July 2012

From the President
Welcome to summer!!! We have had some great summer weather for golf, swimming or just being lazy. I see that the pool is staying busy, come on out and join us. The heater has been repaired in the pool and the last report I got was that it is at a warm 78 degrees and everyone says it feels great. Remind your friends that don’t have a good place to swim that CCC has a summer swim membership.

I hope everyone has been taking advantage of the golf course, it is in great shape and Mikel and Javier are working hard to make it look that way! Let them know that we really appreciate their hard work.

Friday night scrambles have been having a good turn-out and we are enjoying getting to know new members and older members who have not been out much. This is a wonderful time to make new friends and golfing partners. Remember, these scrambles are for all members regardless of ability.

The final Frank Self Pig Roast was held this month and they had a great tournament. Thanks to Frank for his hard work in putting that tournament on for so many years.

The screening around the pool has been put up and it works and looks great. Thanks to Bob and Debbie Lang for donating the screening and to all those who helped to install it. Thanks also goes out to Clarence Vaughn and Charlie McClure for filling some deep pot holes on the road.

The Ladies have done a great job with flower beds and plants on the course. We really appreciate the work you all do.

Have a great summer!!!

From the Pro
Hello members!! First things first, let’s all congratulate Debra Hetzler on getting her first hole in one!! She was playing with her husband Scott when she went ahead and holed out on #5 using her trusty 8 iron. Please be sure to tell her congratulations next time you see her!!

New for this year we will be conducting a junior golf clinic here that will run July 23 thru 27. The first four days will be the instruction portion and then Friday we will run a 9 hole tournament for the kids. Children must be at least 8 years old to sign up. Cost will be $100 per child. That fee will need to be paid up front, you will not be able to charge this to your club account. If you have any questions regarding the clinics please talk to Tim in the golf shop for all the particulars!!

This past weekend we had the Double Couples tournament at the club with 72 players participating. There were 4 flights and results were as follows:

Thanks to all who played and congrats to all the members who played so well!! Remember that we still have the Men’s Roadrunner tournament coming up on the 13th thru 15th of July. Sign up in the pro shop!!

You all may have noticed just how busy the club is these days. We have gotten a whole pile of new members to sign up, which is AWESOME!! Along with that will come the fact that the course will be busier than it has been for the last year. With this in mind, please be aware that when you want to play, it is best to set up a tee time. Walking in and expecting to get out on the course, especially if it is Friday, Saturday, or Sunday may be a little un-realistic. So please call in and get yourself a time to play!!

The weather is hot, the course is fabulous, so come on down and play some golf!!! Hope to see you all real soon here at your club!!

From the Ladies Auxiliary
Ronnie Reynolds installed the new taller toilet in the ladies room and put the hand rail back up on the wall securing all the way thru so it could not be pulled out. Be sure to give Ronnie a big “Thank you” for the replacement and installation.

Women's Working Wednesday Play

Still time to join in the Women's Working Wednesday Play Days. A different game every Wednesday. Please call the golf shop by 4:00 to sign up and play begins at 6:00. Be sure to tell the Pro Shop staff if you are planning to eat.

Ladies High Plains Golf Association

Palo Duro Creek golf course hosted the ladies High Plains Golf Association playday, Wednesday, June 13th. Six of CCC ladies, Marsha Kirk, Karolyn Farmer, Debbie Lang, Sandy Jones, Wilma Higginbotham, and Kay Reynolds played. Marsha, Sandy, Wilma and Kay were able to score 4 points toward the traveling trophy for the Club. The next play day will be held at John Pittman Golf Course, Hereford, July 11th. Any woman is invited to join. For more information, please call Kay Reynolds at 499-3310.

Grandmothers Tournment

The "Grandmothers and More" tournment was held June 7th. This year's tournment was the first year that you did not have to be a Grandmother, but you did have to be at least 50 years of age. So you had two ways to be eligible, (1) you were a Grandmother or (2) you were 50 or older. Debbie Lang and Sally Tucker both placed in the tournment.
