October

From the President

Fall has officially arrived.  I am enjoying the nice cool weather and hope you are too!!  I still think fall is a great time for golf, winds are generally low, temperatures are just right, and we really need to support the club during these slower months.  Be sure and come on out and play!  I would like to start out by saying Thanks to some of our members and employees.  Billy Pope has put together a great advertisement for our club by hosting a booth at “Fair on the Square” during the WT Homecoming festivities. This has been a lot of work and Billy has done a great job. Canyon usually expects a turnout of over 10,000 people so this will give us great exposure. We will have drawings for some great prizes and be handing out literature regarding the club. Debbie Neufeld has been a big help in creating the graphic designs to be used on cards and other handouts. Brad Tooley has been a big help in creating a banner for the booth and Teresa Villalobos is donating burgers and fries to those who take advantage of our reduced fee for non-members.  This should be a big boost to the club. THANKS to those who helped.

Everyone should come out to the club to play golf, watch football and visit. Hope to see you there.

Have a Great Fall,

Travis

From the Pro

Hello Members,

Well it looks as if the cooler weather has started to show up.  It sure makes for some great golfing days as long as the wind doesn’t blow in with it!!  With the arrival of Labor Day it sure gets slow around here.  If you get the chance you should head out and play.  Days are usually not very busy and you can get around at a nice pace.  Come on out and see for yourselves!!

We hosted the 3 Man Scramble on the 14th and 15th of September, with an awesome turnout of 111 players!!  That is the most we have had in any tournament here in a long long time.  The course was in excellent shape (as usual) and the results were as follows:

Championship Flight:

1st        Craig Ouellette, Jonathan and Greg Shelley                 59-55

2nd      Billy Pope, Travis Kleman, Jentry Porter                                 59-61

3rd       Chad Pernell, Doug and Josh Sims                              62-61

First Flight:

1st        Matt Lichtie, Matt and Eric Miller                                66-60

2nd      Bob Lang, Don Cofer, Javier Solis                              65-61

3rd       Ross Macon, Brock Swain, Levi James                                   67-62

Second Flight:

1st        Wylie McIntire, Mike Yell, Alton McCormick             68-63

2nd      Darin Stallings, Tyson and Tommy Myers                   69-63

3rd       Wayne Taylor, Corky Moore, Richard Mc Minn                     68-64

Third Flight:

1st        Dustin Simpson, Brian Batenhorst, Mark Wright                     71-66

2nd      Ken Shufeldt, Thom Clark, Justin Bingham                 73-67

3rd       Larry Maxwell, Leonard Neusch, Bobby Reining                    75-71

Thanks to all that played and to the Burton Family for their continued sponsorship of this event!!

Well there are only 2 events left this season:   The Ryder Cup on the 5th and 6th of October and the 19 Man Shootout on the 13th.  Get signed up if you want to play!!!

Also, I know that many of you don’t realize that I can order pretty much anything you want or need as far as equipment goes, whether its clubs, balls, gloves, grips, etc., not to mention any clothing that you may like.  Before you go to Golf Headquarters and spend too much, how about checking with us here in the golf shop.  I can almost guarantee that I can beat the prices you will find anywhere else on the things you need, not to mention that as members you always receive a 10% discount on anything you purchase from me.  So please take the time to check with the golf shop and see what kinds of prices you can get here.  I truly appreciate your patronage!!
