December 2013

From the President

As I write this, I am looking forward to turkey and dressing in just a few days. Hope everyone has a great holiday season. Christmas is quickly approaching and I am looking forward to our club Christmas banquet. If you have not been to one of these you are really missing out.  It’s a great time with extraordinary dinner fare by our own Teresa Villalobos.

Well we have enjoyed a lot of beautiful days this fall and the golf has been great. Hope we see lots of moisture this winter, the course is in need of water.  Pray for Rain (and snow!!!!!)

As most of you know by now, the board voted to not renew Tim’s contract.  A search committee is being formed to look for a new manager for the club. The board is in search of a person who can help us utilize all assets of our club to increase membership and keep costs in line with our income.  As you all know, keeping cost down, but providing the membership with an enjoyable golf and club product is always a challenge.  Any thoughts you have on this and other matters are always welcome by the board of directors.  Give Courtney a call if you would like to be placed on the agenda of the next meeting.

Speaking of the Board, Mark Sowers is heading up the Nominating Committee for next years board members.  There are going to be four places open and we need good quality leadership.  Let Mark or Courtney know if you or someone you know is interested in running for these places.

Remember the club when you need a place for a party during the holidays.  Rates are very reasonable and these parties help support our club and employees. Come on out and enjoy the holidays with your fellow club members!

Happy Holidays!!!
Travis

November 2013

From the President

Hope everyone is looking forward to the holiday season. Thanksgiving is quickly approaching and I am looking forward to lots of turkey and pumpkin pie. We have enjoyed a lot of beautiful days this fall and the nice cool weather makes golf more fun.  I still think fall is a great time for golf, winds are generally low, temperatures are just right, and we really need to support the club during these slower months. Why not bring some family out to play around the holidays?  The club promotion at “Fair on the Square” during the WT Homecoming festivities was a success and we have seen results from it already. Billy did a great job of promoting CCC to the people of Canyon.  Thanks again to Debbie Neufeld, Brad Tooley, Clarence Vaughn and Jessie Pope for helping out. Be sure and promote the club every time you have a chance. So many people still don’t realize we are here.  Every green fee we bring in during the winter makes a big difference.

Remember to come out to the club for football games, etc.  The bar is open in the afternoon and on weekends.

Have a Great Thanksgiving,

Travis

From the Pro

Hello members,

Well unfortunately I think winter is starting to arrive here.  We have already had many mornings where the course is closed for a good bit of time due to frost delays.  Usually the sign that it is going to start getting cold soon.  Darn.

Well we had only a couple of events this past month to talk about.  First was the ryder cup.  There were only 20 players involved this year.  The winning team members this year were Eddie Clement, Steve Dragosavic, Kyle Farmer, Jimmy Jones, Kay Reynolds, Ronnie Reynolds, Roger Senter, Javier Solis, Deanna Sowers, and Mark Sowers.  They won by a pretty healthy margin of 22 points to 8 points.

Also we had the 19 man shootout with 18 participating.  Eddie Clement came out on top, Mark Sowers was second, and Jim Giacomazzi rounded out the top 3.

There will be no more events until next year so come on out and play when you get a chance and its not too cold!!

I would like to take this chance to remind all of you that if you need something and it is not in stock at the pro shop, odds are very good that we can get it for you.  I have noticed recently that some of the members are showing off their new clubs that they have purchased at Golf Headquarters, online, etc.  PLEASE realize that 99.9% of the time not only can I get you the same product, I can get it to you at a substantial savings over the prices at golf headquarters.  So please take the time to call or stop by and see what kinds of prices I can get you things for.  Thanks!!  Hope to see you all around your club very soon!!
