From the President
On
behalf of the Board and search Committee, I would like to welcome Billy Pope as
our new General Manager of Canyon Country Club.
Billy is very excited to have this position after working here for the
last 5 years and considering so many of you friends. If you haven’t already done so, I invite you
to come by and say hello.
We
had 24 teams play in the Polar Bear Tournament, which turned out to be a fairly
nice weekend for golf, though it did start off a little cold on Sunday. If you haven’t done so already, you might
mark your calendar for our tournaments this year. Our next tournament is Mikel’s revenge
scheduled for March 22. We are still
working out the details on the format of the tournament, but I’m sure it will
be fun.
In
an interesting side note that could affect Canyon Country Club: Two weeks ago at a water conference in
Amarillo, a meteorologist from the National Weather Service gave a presentation
on how there is almost a 50% chance that an El Nino weather pattern will form
in the Pacific Ocean later this year.
Historically this means more rain for out part of the world. Let’s pray that happens.
Hope
to see you soon,
Chad
Pernell
From the GM
Hello to everyone,
It’s my second week on
the job as the general manager for Canyon Country Club and I could not be more
pleased with how things are going. This past weekend we had our first
tournament of the year, the Polar Bear. The weather was nice and we had a great
turnout. Thanks to who all participated!
If you missed the Polar
Bear, don’t worry! We have more tournaments coming up, and we would love for
you to be a part of them!
• March 22 - Mikel’s Revenge (details will be posted later
this week).
• April 5th and 6th - Adios to Winter (3 person scramble).
We are taking
registration for both tournaments, so get signed up today!
There will be some
changes in the merchandise we will be carrying in the golf shop. We will have accounts with most major
golf brands, and we will be able to order any item you might need at a great
price! If you every have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask any of the
pro shop staff.
In closing I would like
to thank everyone for the support and encouragement I have received since
taking this position. This is a great opportunity and I am honored that the
board of directors chose me to be the general manager of this club. It has a
special place in my heart and I am looking forward to working hard and making
this an even better country club.
Kindest regards,
Billy Pope
