July 2011 Newsletter

From the President:
Hot, Hot, Hot. When will it end! Be sure to drink lots of water while out on the course. Pray for rain!
We had a great Doubles Couples Tournament. Some of the visiting players had some good comments about our club. They turned down the Tall Tower Open to play in our tournament, they said the course was in great shape, they liked the challenge of the course, the people were friendly and over all they had a great time.
We are very fortunate to have people who donate their money and time. Thank you to everyone who makes this club a great family type atmosphere. I don’t want to mention names because I would probably leave someone out. There are folks who do things that you never hear about. There is money donated from folks that you never hear about and this makes a special place to be a part of. Some of the things donated are: All of the sod you have seen lately has been donated. Plumbing repairs have been donated, equipment use has been donated, cart repairs and tire replacements have been donated, manual labor has been donated and many other things behind the scene that you do not see.
The women’s auxiliary has been great at fixing up and adding things that make the club a nice place to come. THANK YOU for your support!
With out all of the extras that are put into this club we would have a hard time keeping our heads above water. This also makes a good impression to those who wish to join our club.
We have had good comments on the swimming pool and the life guards. Way to go yall!
Attitudes are also important to a great club. Please give those who have helped a pat on the back and tell them how much we really appreciate their efforts. Keep positive to those who are visiting and looking for a club to join. Encourage them to come back and be a part of our family. Leave the negative things at home.
We finally got some insulation put in the pro shop. It was getting a little too warm to work in there. We are still in the process of getting bids to replace the windows in the pro shop and should have all the bids in sometime next week.
The adds and membership drive to run on KVII slipped a couple of weeks but should be up and running any day now so watch KVII for our adds. We need to up our membership so if you know any one looking for a good golf course to join, tell them about Canyon Country Club.
Watch the web site for updates and schedules.canyontxcountryclub.com
THANK YOU once again for all your do. Keep playing and get those handicaps down.

From the Golf Shop
Well things here are on a roll. We have been very busy lately, which is a good thing. The Double Couples turnout was very good. We ended up with 18 teams (foursomes) which was nice considering the weather we had that weekend. Teams from CCC fared very well. There were 3 flights of 6 teams each, and 3 teams in each flight made money, so 50% of the participants got paid!! Results were as follows:
Championship Flight:
1st Chris & Whitney Purcell and Vic Giroux and Kris Reed -18
2nd Nate & Chrystal Seemann and R.L. and Heather Pond -18 (lost scorecard playoff)
3rd Jerry and Debbie Neufeld and James Josserand & Emily Neufeld -15
First Flight:
1st Garry Erdman & Claudia McCaslin and Clarence Vaughn & Francis Ruiz -14
2nd Roger Senter & Amy Johnson and Danny Killough & Marsha Kirk -13
3rd Lynn & Holly Johnston and Stan & Janice Price -12
Second Flight:
1st Bob & Debbie Lang and Scott & Debra Hetzler -7
2nd Kenny & Roxanne Steward and Rod & Marsha Johnson -2
3rd Larry Maxwell & Denise Salzbrenner and Leonard Neusch & Debra Kincaid -1
We appreciate all the participants who stuck it out and played in the crazy heat, and congrats to all the winners!!!
Also in June was the 2 Man Best Ball Championship, again with 18 teams. Results as follows:
1st Gross Jim Giacomazzi and Don Cofer -6
2nd Gross Rudy Ibarra and Eric Moya -5
3rd Gross Chad Pernell and Ty Stovall -4
4th Gross Barry Frost and Jerry Lockhart +6
1st Net Russell and Mitch Ashley -26
2nd Net Roger Senter and Clarence Vaughn -25
3rd Net David Stephenson and Rick Weitner -23
4th Net Rick Dabney and Stan Price -19
Bring your handicap if you plan on playing in this tournament next year!! Ha Ha!!
Remember that we try and stock the pro shop based on the feedback we get from you, the members, so if you don’t see your favorite brand in there, let us know so we can get it for you. Also check my prices against what you can find in town, my bet is that I can beat their prices handily!! The Roadrunner is scheduled for July 8,9, and 10, and the Pro-Am will be on July 25th; Friday nights are member scramble nights, so come on out and enjoy your club!!
