December 2014

From the GM

Hello to everyone,

Well we had a beautiful fall but I am afraid that winter is officially here with 6 inches of snow and temperatures around 5 degrees this past week. The good news is that the holidays are right around the corner, bring with it lost of food and time with family. The Club Christmas part will be held on Saturday December the 13th at 6:00. Every member should be receiving an invitation in the mail this week, we hope to see you there! Remember the club when you need a place to host a party during the holidays. Rates are very reasonable and thee parties really help support our club and employees. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to give us a call. As always if you need anything golf related or needing a special order for a gift this season, let us help you find what you need.

October 2014

From the President

Greetings!  I hope your fall is starting off well.  It seems like it’s already a little cooler and wetter than usual for this time of year.  The rain sure has been good for the course this year.  More rain this fall is only going to help, especially in areas that we’ve tried to improve.

Speaking of improvements, the Board and staff has come to the conclusion that keeping carts off of the fairways this fall and winter will help prevent further damage at a time of year when the grass is most vulnerable.  When the grass is dormant during the winter months it is more susceptible to cart damage.  This in addition to several years of drought has taken a toll on parts of the course.  Our goal is to “rest” the fairways a little and then make further improvements next spring.  Starting October 15th, the course will be cart paths only, until a time to be determined next year.   We ask for your understanding and cooperation in this effort.

I would again like to thank our staff for all the work they do as well as those members who do a lot of work around the course.  There are several who put in a lot of time and effort to benefit the club without many people knowing about it.  They are very much appreciated!

Blessings,

Chad

From the GM

Hello Members,

Well it looks as if the cooler weather has started to show up.  It sure makes for some great golfing days as long as the wind doesn’t blow in with it!!  With the arrival of Labor Day it sure gets slow around here.  If you get the chance you should head out and play.  Days are usually not very busy and you can get around at a nice pace.  Come on out and see for yourselves!!

Thanks to all that played and to the Burton Family for their continued sponsorship of this event!!

Well there are only 1events left this season:   19 Man Shootout on the 19th.  Get signed up if you want to play!!!

What a wonderful fall season we are having this year! It is perfect golfing weather. As much as I like the fall, this means that winter is just around the corner, so while the weather is nice come get your golf in! This past weekend we had the 19-man shootout and had a great turn out. The final three men were Rick Palmer, Chad Pernell, and the 2014 shootout champion was Jim Giacomazzi. As always if you need anything golf related please check with the pro shop staff. We can beat Golf Headquarters price 99% of the time and on special orders we can have it shipped to your door.

Ladies Auxiliary

All ladies are encouraged to join the auxiliary, you don't have to play golf, just be a member of CCC.  Meetings are held the 2nd Thursday of the month starting at 6:00pm during the winter months. Dues are $21 for golfers, if you want to be eligible for the hole-in-one money and $20 for non-golfers.  The first winter meeting was held October 9th. and after the meeting the ladies enjoyed a night of Bunco.  The ladies will be playing Bunco during the winter months; they play every other Thursday starting at 6:00pm and are usually finished by 8:30 or quarter to 9:00pm.  Everyone is invited to play.

Auxiliary members are selling chances on a $10,000 prepaid bank credit card, (October through March).  Cost is $10.00 a ticket and this ticket can be redeemed for one (retail value $12) "Works Wash" at any Toot'n Totum Car Wash. The Ladies' Auxiliary will receive a portion of the sale of the ticket and the Amarillo Education Foundation will receive a portion.

The Hi-Plains Ladies Golf Association held their last play day in Hereford October 8th. Marsha Kirk won low gross in the second flight, and Kay Reynolds won low net in the second flight. .  Palo Duro Creek went home with the traveling trophy for the year, but they have at least 20 ladies playing sometimes.  CCC needs more ladies for High Plains; we usually have six ladies that play.  This year's play will begin in April of 2015, and run through October.  Membership dues are $15.00 and $40.00 each time you play. The $40.00 covers the cart, green fees, and breakfast/lunch on the days of play. Any lady interested in playing next year, please call Kay Reynolds at 499-3310.

Ladies get prepared; the holidays are just around the corner.
