November 2012

From the President
Hope this letter finds all our members having a great fall season. The weather this fall has been great and we have had a good turn-out for all our tournaments. I hope all of you have a chance to come out and play.

The course continues to be in good condition even though it has been stressed by the lack of rain, but Mikel and Javier are doing a great job of keeping it looking and playing great. I would like to extend a special THANKS to all who participated in the Pie Auction. I have been told that a total of $1,600 or so was raised for the ladies. They have very generously agreed to donate $1,500 of that to the fund to pay for our new sprayer. The sprayer has now been paid for without going into our general fund money. Thanks!!!!

Most of you are aware that we have been working hard to get the 40 acre land tract sold. We have run into several bumps as is usually the case in a land sale like this. It looks like we are getting very close to having this completed. We will let you know as soon as the transaction has been completed.

The Board of Directors has decided that we need to enforce the rule instituted several years ago that all our carts have two riders whenever possible. The pro-shop staff will be working hard to enforce this rule and we would appreciate your help in this effort. If a player wishes to ride alone when there are others in your group needing a cart, you will be charged for the full price of the cart. We are wearing our carts out by having one person on each cart when there are several players. Please help us enforce this rule whenever possible.

As of today, it looks like winter is about to start. Don’t let that keep you away from the club. We have several events planned like the Halloween Party and Christmas Party. Come on out and enjoy these times of good fellowship and it will help you get to know other members!

From the Pro
Hello members. As I sit here today and write this letter, it is about 40 degrees and the wind is blowing straight out of the north at about 25 mph. It looks as though winter may finally be arriving, unfortunately. I hope you all had a chance to get out and play a lot of golf this past year. We definitely had some great weather and the course was busier than ever. I’m sure that with Amarillo CC closing till late next year and one course under renovation at Ross Rogers, which had something to do with it. Although, I had many, many people say how much they liked our course, and how they planned to keep coming back. So hopefully that trend will continue into the future!!

Our last events of the year were played this month. Our backwards scramble was well received again. The winning team was that of Dan Luther, Rick Dabney, Joe Sanchez, Fernando Villalobos, and Gary Turner who shot a nice 63. Second place went to Garry Erdman, Regina Dinga, and Laurie and Ryan Hollingsworth who were just one back at 64.

The very next day we had our 19 man shootout. That was a close one and came down to a chip off on the last hole for Jerry Baker to edge out Roger Senter by about 6”. Doesn’t get much closer than that!! Danny Killough rounded out the top 3.

The Ryder Cup was, as it was last year, split into two groups, and with 28 players we had 14 per side. The winning team consisted of Javier Solis, Kim Davis, Jim and Trish Giacomazzi, Dan Luther, Deanna Sowers, Janice Price, Jimmy Jones, Roger Senter, Ronnie and Kay Reynolds, Marsha Kirk, Kyle Farmer, and fill-ins Craig Curlee, Garry Erdman, and Shelly Moore. Those players now have bragging right for one year. The final score was 9 points to 5. Thanks to all who participated in this fun annual event!!

Well with Christmas right around the corner, stop on by the pro shop and see if there are some presents you need. I will be running some Christmas sales in December, and as always if there is something you want or need and I don’t have it in stock, I can always get it ordered up for you. Usually takes about 2 weeks for any special orders. Please let me know if I can help you in any way!!

Hope to see you all around the club real soon!!
