April 2015

From the GM

Hello to Everyone,

Winter is gone (hopefully) and Spring is finally here.  That means warmer golf weather, so I hope everyone can get out and enjoy it.  The club will be hosting our Adios to Winter 3-person Scramble on April 11th and 12th.  Tee times start at 8:30 and 1:30 both days, so call the Pro Shop to get signed up.  We will also be hosting two high school golf tournaments on April 6th and April 8th, the course will be open for play starting at 2:00 both days.  The Friday Night Scrambles will begin on April 17th at 6:00.  Make sure to sign up before 4:00 on the Friday of the Scrambles.  We will be closed Monday, April 20th for Greens Aerification.  Don’t forget, if there is anything golf related for this season, please let us know. We are able to beat or match any prices for our members almost every time.

Ladies Auxillary

The Ladies Auxiliary volunteered to purchase several items for the Club this past month. Thanks to Wilma & Red Higginbotham, rubber treads have been ordered for the steps on several of the tee boxes.  Jan McFather and Kay Reynolds purchased a new coffee machine for the restaurant. No learning curve needed, just like the old one.  Joe Randall was able to hit the ground running, preparing coffee for the“Old fossils” that meet every morning @ 8:00am during the week for coffee.

The last Bunco game was held on February 26.  Jan McFarther and Cindy Davis provided food.  The first ladies’ Wednesday evening golf game was held at 6:00 on March 11th.  We had beautiful weather.  Those wishing to play next Wednesday, March 18th, need to call Zach at the Pro Shop by 4:00.  Also, tell Zach whether you will be eating or not. Teresa cooked last Wednesday and should be there from now on.

Sue Herring announced that she will need the money from the AISD raffle turned in by the next meeting on March 11.

2015 Ladies Tournaments.  Ladies Guest Day, Thursday, May 7th, with a cost of $60.  The Grandmothers/Senior Ladies tournament will be held Thursday, June 4th, and the Ladies Chaparral will take place on Saturday and Sunday, June 13th and 14th.

High Plains Ladies Golf Association play begins in April  and runs through October.  Our first Playday will be hosted by the ladies from Portales Country Club.  CCC will host the August 12th playday.  Membership dues is $15.00 and $40.00 each time you play.  Any lady interested in playing, please call Kay Reynolds at 499-3310.

All Auxiliary members should have turned in their money and tickets for the chances on a $10,000 prepaid bank credit card ("Works Wash" at any Toot'n Totum Car Wash) to Sue Herring and Jan McFather.
